The extremely popular Rebel 250, which reigns supreme as the best-selling model in the 250cc class, will be remodeled into a new model in response to the emission regulations that will take effect this October.
According to a social networking site posted by Honda Motorcycle Japan on September 16, the official launch is coming soon. New white and titanium colors were also unveiled for the first time. Here we would like to predict other coloring and model changes.
Will the new color be fully adopted to comply with 2020 emission regulations?
The 2023 model will be mainly compliant with the 2020 emission regulations, which expire in October of this year, and will also feature a new color scheme. The Rebel 250 has already undergone a model change in 2020 with the addition of full LED lights and a gear position indicator on the meter, and the 2023 model is expected to follow suit.
According to photos released by Honda on social networking sites, the Rebel 250S will be available in Titanium Metallic and the Rebel 250 in a new color, Pearl White. All other colors will also be replaced with new colors.
The expectation is that the Rebel 250S will be available in two colors, with the addition of Candy Red, while the Rebel 250 will be available in three colors, including Matte Black and Gray.
Prices are likely to increase only (approx.) 70 USD for both Rebel 250 and Rebel 250S
Debuting in 2017 and a bestseller in the 250cc class from 2018 to the present, this is the first engine upgrade for the Rebel 250/S. The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine mounted on the bike is used in various models, and while the CB250R, released earlier in July, is already compliant with regulations, the specs remain unchanged. There is no need to worry about a power reduction in the new Rebel 250/S as well.
The price is expected to be (approx.) 80 USD higher than the current model, with the Rebel 250 expected to be priced at (approx.) 4255 USD and the Rebel 250S at (approx.) 4520 USD.
The Rebel 250/S will be imported from Thailand, but it does not seem to be affected by the recent depreciation of the yen. The expected launch date is likely to be December 2022.
「Review」The current Rebel 250 has evolved in this way
I would like to review the equipment of the current Rebel 250, on which the 2023 Rebel 250 is based.
The current Rebel 250, launched in 2020, features new LED headlights, indicators, and taillights. A gear position indicator has been added to the instrument panel, and the indicator now displays left and right indicators independently for easier operation.
In addition, the use of an assist slipper clutch reduces clutch operation and stabilizes rear tire behavior during engine braking, and changes to the front and rear suspension specifications have improved handling and ride comfort.
