The ADV160, the successor to the popular crossover-style ADV150, is now available in Indonesia. Based on the PCX160, the ADV160 has been reborn to offer more power, ease of use, and style. We have explained the changes and predicted what the domestic version will look like!

PCX160-based renewal and higher quality design were also acquired.

Honda's ADV150 combines the nimble ride and practicality of the PCX150 with adventure style and is highly popular. In 2021, it was the fifth most popular vehicle in the 126-250cc class and the third most popular Honda vehicle in its class for the year, according to Motorcyclist Newspaper.

Its successor, the ADV160, was unveiled in Indonesia on July 1.

In addition to a new design, the new model is based on the PCX160, which was fully redesigned in 2021. The engine has been increased from 149 to 156 cc, and it gains Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) for traction control. In addition, the frame and other body parts are inherited from the PCX160.

Let's begin with a detailed look at the exterior. The previous model had a tough, SUV-like design that was in the lineage of the top model in the series, the 750cc "X-ADV," but the new 160 has a more refined shape. The new 160 has a more sophisticated shape and a more urban feel while retaining the character of an urban adventure model.

The exterior of the ADV160 has been completely redesigned. The center tunnel is now more intrepid, and its shape and color are less conspicuous. The sides of the tail cowl also have a flat design. It is similar to the ADV350 that will be introduced in Europe in 2022.

4-valve conversion and traction control, also gaining a well-received chassis and improved driving performance

The engine is based on the newly designed 2021 PCX160. It is newly equipped with the "eSP+" 156cc 4-valve head for improved power and torque. In addition, the ADV150 did not meet the 2022 emission regulations, which will be fully applied from November 2022, but like the PCX160, the domestic version of the ADV160 is certain to meet these regulations.

And TRACON's HSTC provides increased peace of mind on slippery surfaces. The conventional idling stop system continues to be employed.

The frame also has a new shape similar to that of the PCX160, making it both lightweight and highly rigid. At the same time, the seat height has been lowered from 795 to 780 mm, which is good news for foot comfort. The 14-inch front and 13-inch rear tires remain the same, as do the front and rear suspension and brakes.

When the PCX was remodeled from the 150 to the 160, the ride was more stable and sporty at the same time. The ADV160 should have the same performance.

In terms of dynamic performance, in addition to the 4-valve system, the adoption of TRACON is a highlight. It prevents rear wheel slip in wet weather.

Long screen, a new meter, increased met-in capacity, and other practical features

The equipment has been further enhanced. The short screen has been lengthened and enlarged to improve wind protection at high speeds. The separate LCD meter, a common feature of the ADV series, has been completely redesigned, and a tachometer has been added.

The new frame expands the met-in space under the seat from 27 to 30 liters. In addition to a full-face helmet, a kappa and other items can fit comfortably.

The power supply has been changed from the conventional 12V power supply to USB type A. The convenient smart key continues to be employed.

The gauges have been enlarged and a tachometer has been added to the left side. Visibility has also been improved. The tapered bar handle, typical of adventure models, has been retained.

Gray set for Japan use. Announcement date around October?

The Japanese version will of course be available in the future.

The Indonesian ABS version comes in three body colors: glossy red, glossy black, and glossy white. The Indonesian version is available in ABS and CBS (front/rear interlocking brake) versions, while the domestic version of the ADV150 is sold only in ABS.

In Japan, the ABS will be sold only in ABS, as before, and it is expected to be available in glossy red and glossy black, as well as gray, which does not exist in the Indonesian version.

The Indonesian ABS version is priced at 39.25 million rupiah,  (approx. 2495 USD). In the case of the PCX, when it was remodeled to 160 in 2021, the price increased by only approx. 35 USD.

The current ADV150 is priced at approx. 3165 USD, but it would be nice if the price could be reduced by (approx.) 70 USD to 140 USD.

As for the release date of the domestic version, we expect it to be around October. We expect that it will be released in January, early in the new year. The ADV150 has been difficult to obtain, but we hope that the 160 will improve this situation.
