Key Features

Powerful and torqueful 270-degree crank engine

200311_tenere700_14-680x454.jpg
The 688cm3 inline 2-cylinder engine, developed based on the "crossplane concept "*, is characterized by abundant torque in the low-mid rev range and a high degree of flexibility at high rev range. The secondary reduction ratio has been optimized to match the engine's characteristics, making it easier to handle both full-fledged off-road riding and everyday city riding.

*Crossplane concept: A design concept that efficiently extracts only the combustion torque generated in the combustion chamber with low inertia torque.

Intake and exhaust system that thoroughly pursues off-road riding performance

The air cleaner box is designed with the intake duct facing in the direction of travel to suppress the inhalation of sand and dust from the rear wheels and to ensure sufficient air intake capacity. The exhaust system features a compact exhaust pipe and separate silencer, as well as a new cooling fan and radiator with a new grill, and has been refined to provide high stability in a variety of off-road conditions.

Lightweight and strong body that supports off-road potential

The frame has been newly designed in the pursuit of YAMAHA's traditional lightweight, slim and compact design. The shape is a double cradle, and the material used is a high-strength, lightweight high-tensile steel pipe, which ensures the rigidity necessary for off-road riding while providing a supple ride. Furthermore, an aluminum rear arm has been adopted to reduce weight.

Front and rear suspension that supports off-road riding performance

The front suspension features an inverted front fork 43mm inner tube to ensure excellent ground contact and shock absorption. The under bracket and handle crown are also strength-balanced to match the suspension, bringing out the natural inverted steering feel. At the rear, a link-type monocross suspension is used to refine the motorcycle's driveability from ordinary roads to harsh off-road courses such as the desert.

Brakes with refined initial touch and controllability

The front and rear brakes feature optimally designed wave discs, as well as lightweight and compact BREMBO calipers. We sought an excellent balance of initial touch, stopping power, control, and release characteristics. It is also equipped with ABS that can be switched on and off.

Highly flexible riding position setting

The flat seat height of 875mm has been balanced with the slim fuel tank to make it easier to get a flexible riding position. It also reduces fatigue by optimizing the position of the 3 important points (foot, hip and handlebar) in the riding position.

Styling that is reminiscent of rally's bloodline

The styling and design inherits the rally image of YAMAHA's dual-purpose XT and WR series. In addition, the headlamps and tank, which are functional components, have been given a distinctive twist, advocating the proportions of a new modern rally motorcycle.
