SP Tadao, a brand that provides riders all over Japan with "Feeling Good!" exhausts, has released their POWERBOX Pipe for the ZX-4R SE/RR.

First of all, it should be noted that the POWERBOX Pipe introduced here is for the ZX-4R SE/RR, but it was not made for racing. Although the ZX-4R SE and ZX-4RR are characterized by their exciting performance, the POWERBOX Pipe is designed to provide a "relaxed" riding experience by making it more torquey.

The first notable feature is its bold appearance. The main pipe is looped around the catalytic converter from the rear side, as if it were a large coil. This is the result of extending the pipe to bring out torque even at low rpm. This kind of dynamic thinking is typical of SP Tadao.

The ZX-4R, which has one of the highest top speeds among current 400cc models, is set up with a longer gear ratio, so the lack of torque in the low rpm range is noticeable. Although the electronic throttle makes for a ride with no complaints, this pipe alone is capable of increasing torque to the point where the rider doesn't notice the longer gear ratio.

For a perfectly controllable ride in any speed range

The first goal in manufacturing this pipe was to create a torquey ride similar to that of the ZX-9R, which the developer used to ride in the past. The characteristics of the 9R, which is normally used for touring, but when the rider pushes it, delivers the heart-thumping performance that is typical of a true sport bike, were used as a reference.

Since it produces plenty of speed at the top end, they needed a torque line that would allow the bike to reach that level in an instant. After much trial and error, the torque line from 2000 to 7000 rpm was adjusted. As a result, they succeeded in obtaining a stable ride at 2000 rpm, when the clutch is first engaged, and a torque that is easy to ride from 4000 to 7000 rpm. The developer says, "It's an exciting and enjoyable to ride bike, but it can be a little nerve-wracking if you ride it every day." The POWERBOX Pipe provides a robust torque that allows the rider to enjoy a relaxed ride without getting tired.
