You might mistake it for an RZ250! MT-25 based RZ-25!
The XSR900 exterior in RZ250R colors from Y'S GEAR was a big topic of discussion at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, but did you know that there was also an XSR250 with an RZ exterior!? We spotted this MT-25 custom at the show and it was totally cool!
Sorry it's not a 2-stroke...
Motodowell, a bike shop from Yokohama, exhibited a custom MT-25 at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. It looks like a first-generation RZ250, but it's based on a 4-stroke 250cc, so the owner of the shop, Ms. Kanno, put out a sign that said "Sorry it's not a 2-stroke." The concept of this custom is "an RZ that can be ridden anywhere with ease," and with the latest engine and chassis, it should be a safe and enjoyable ride. The exterior is made of FRP, and the complete package, including the second hand bike, is priced from 460,000 JPY, a very reasonable price since the market price for a used RZ250 is around 2,000,000 JPY. The bike on display was a prototype and painted white, but it can be made in any of the colors that were available for the first generation 4L3 RZ250. 4U0 RZ350 coloring can also be ordered, but that requires an additional fee depending on the paint used. In any case, the appeal of this custom product is that it is a complete set, including paint, and sales were limited to 33 bikes!
XSR series not yet available in 250cc and 320cc
In their Sports Heritage Series, YAMAHA has released an MT-09-based XSR900, an MT-07-based XSR700, an MT-15-based XSR155, and an MT-125-based XSR125, but for some reason, there is no MT-25/MT-03 (320cc) based XSR available. If an XSR250 were available, it could be given an RZ-style coloring, so Motodowel has taken this idea and implemented it on their own with this RZ-25. We applaud them for creating this complete custom that no one else has done yet! At the same time, we look forward to YAMAHA's next move, will they release an XSR250?
