CBR250RR Racer Custom [Mika’s Racing Days]
Hello everyone. My name is Mika! Thank you to everyone who came to Webike Festival 2023 this year. It was a very fun event and the time passed by so quickly. I want to keep working hard to get everyone excited about motorcycles and racing, so I would like to introduce my bike to you here!
Introducing custom points of my CBR250RR racer!
I have already mentioned that I ride a CBR250RR, so here I would like to introduce in detail the customization of my racer. Do you customize your bike? I am sure everyone has various reasons to make changes to their machine. I'd like to tell you all about the custom points for my bike, and maybe you can also get some ideas.
SAITANIYA: FRP Race Cowl
There are various shapes of race cowls made by various manufacturers, but I decided simply on the looks. It's a white cowl with wrapping that is based on the design of the first generation Fireblade. It goes well with the design of my jumpsuit. With a racing cowl, it's fun to do your own original paint job and design it to fit your own personal style.
ACTIVE: Brake Lever
The position of the lever can be finely adjusted with a dial. In my case, I have small hands and could not reach the brake lever with my fingers. By replacing the lever with this one and positioning it closer, it became easier to apply force and I was able to apply the brake firmly. It's easy to turn the dial even with gloves on. Braking is important both on the street and on the racetrack. Especially on the track, precision braking is necessary. Braking technique is really difficult, and you can drag with even just a small change in grip power while banking on a corner. That's why I use ACTIVE levers, because they make it easy to feel those small differences. In the event of a fall, the foldable type deflects the impact force to minimize damage to the lever and holder.
ZETA: Lever Guard
A lever guard is attached to the end of the handlebars to avoid the brakes catching and locking the front end in the event of contact with another rider during a race. When you come into contact with another rider, the brake lever may hit their body or bike, causing the brake to activate and your bike to crash. This guard protects you from such danger. It is also my favorite customization because it makes the bike look like a cool racer.
SUNSTAR: Racing Brake Pads
I felt the quality as soon as I changed to these pads. The braking felt really good with them, and I can decelerate exactly as I want to. I can now brake at high speeds on the track with confidence.
SUNSTAR: Premium Racing Disc Rotors
Not only the appearance has changed, but the performance is also perfect. Compared to stock, I felt that the braking performance has clearly improved. Perhaps due to the combined performance with the brake pads, it became easier to control my braking by subtly adjusting the force. The fact that I was able to significantly improve my personal best time at the Motegi race was definitely a benefit of the brake pads and disc rotors. That is how important brakes are for racing!
YSS: Rear Suspension Front Cartridge
At first, I had no idea what kind of changes replacing the suspension would bring. However, the stability, especially for high speed corners like the 130R at Motegi where you go through at full throttle, greatly improved compared to the stock suspension. You can feel a sense of security that the tires are gripping the road surface firmly, so you can open the throttle with confidence. I always leave the settings to the mechanics at the store, but it seems like there are a lot of things to consider, such as settings that suit racing conditions, your riding style, and the way you apply brakes. Since I am light, there are probably settings that would be best for me and I hope to learn little by little so that I can make the best settings for myself.
PIRELLI: Super Corsa SC1
This is a high-grip tire that probably needs no explanation since they are so well renowned. Its absolute grip allows you to tackle corners with confidence. However, temperature control is very strict, and if the tires are not warmed up to the proper temperature, it can be dangerous. I had a bad experience when I went out without using tire warmers and crashed on the first lap. After that, I warm up the tires with a tire warmer as much as possible, or if not, I try to warm them up for about 3 laps. The pictures are my tires after the Motegi endurance race.
SPEEDRA: Master Cylinder Cap
I like red, so of course I had to go with the red one! Adding an accent point like this in an easily visible area changes the whole look. SPEEDRA's products are my favorite because of their cool design.
MORIWAKI: Full Exhaust
My bike is a MORIWAKI Complete Model (race based), so this exhaust was installed from the beginning. The exhaust is also very prominent in the looks of your bike, so you want to choose a cool one. I love this rainbow color design.
MORIWAKI: Rearsets
This also came installed when I first got the bike. The texture is cool and I like it. As for the footpeg, my feet don't slide at all and it is easy to apply force. One time my footpeg got worn out and almost slid off while riding, so I think it should be checked regularly.
MARCHESINI: Wheels
The visual impact is amazing but I also realized how much easier it is to turn when the wheels become lighter. The effect is tremendous, as I can now nimbly turn without extra force! The lighter weight also makes it easier to maneuver.
Summary
There are many different types of motorcycle customizations, and everyone has their own ideas. Whether it is customization for dress-up or customization for performance enhancement, the fun part is that you can incorporate what you like into your bike. I think you will love riding your bike even more if you customize it to your own tastes. Why not have fun customizing your bike and make it an original that suits you perfectly.
