In 2022, the production of the CB400SF and CB400SB ended, shocking the Japanese motorcycle industry. Many people may have had the CB400SF as their first bike. Over the years, the CB400SF and SB have attracted many riders, from beginners to veterans. Here is our ranking of CB400SF and SB custom parts for the last year, based on Webike sales data. This may be the final edition of our Super Four custom parts rankings!

No.10: [STRIKER] Carbon Chain Cover

chainguard_carbon_striker_02.jpg

Carbon chain covers from STRIKER, a well-known maker of exhausts and rearsets, have ranked in 10th place! The CB400SF was in production for 30 years from 1992, so the bikes in existence range from relatively old to very old. One of the most common problems on such bikes is that the black resin parts turn white. Some people may try searing them with a gas burner or applying a wax to make them shiny, but it is also possible to easily replace them. For that we recommend this carbon chain cover. Since it is made of carbon, it is very lightweight and can be used as a dress up part.

No.9: [HONDA Stock] Meter Visor

cb400sf_screen_junsei_01.jpg

From HONDA stock parts, this meter visor ranks in 9th place! Stock HONDA parts are reliable and safe, and you can feel a sense of security when you purchase them. The naked style SF is exposed to headwind while riding, but this meter visor makes touring easier with its wind protection effect! Recommended for owners who don't want a big cowl, but also don't want to be exposed to the wind.

No.8: [DAYTONA] Pipe Engine Guard

DAYTONA, which handles a wide range of motorcycle accessories, ranks in at 8th place with this engine guard! One of the characteristics of the CB400SF and SB is that many owners take good care of them, as can be seen by the high sales of engine guards and engine protection covers. The CB400SF is popular among beginners as well, and there are times when they may make a mistake and end up falling over. Also, the body of the machine must feel quite heavy for a small person. Even an experienced rider may fall over by accident if they have a bad foothold or are on an incline. As well as trust in the brand and the price, owners appreciate innovative ideas such as the anti-scratch rubber where it attaches and the resin cover that can be attached where the engine guard comes in contact with the bike! If you have not yet installed an engine guard, why not try it?

No.7: [Magical Racing] Under Cowl

cb400sf_magicalracing_undercowl_01.jpg

It may come as a surprise that Magical Racing's under cowl has ranked seventh! In terms of the number of users who have installed it, it is less than the engine guard and windshield mentioned above, but it is still quite popular despite the high price range. This rank is due to Magical Racing's brand power. Once you put it on, you'll be able to go from a street to a racing look in a flash! Not only does it look good, but it will also provide peace of mind in case of oil leakage. If you want to order, please do so as soon as possible! It has become difficult to secure stock, so the delivery time will be relatively long.

No.6: [HONDA Stock] Main Stand

centerstand_honda_cb400sf_01.jpg

HONDA's stock center stand, which is recommended for those who usually do their own maintenance, comes in at No. 6. If you do not have a center stand, you have two choices to raise the rear tire: purchase a maintenance stand and attach the hook to the body, or raise it with a jack. Raising the bike with a jack is not recommended because it is unstable to begin with (unless you are experienced). Maintenance stands are easy once you get used to them, but they have the disadvantage that they can generally only be used at home. If it is just chain cleaning, it can be done by rolling the bike without having to lift the tire, but honestly, that's still a hassle. If you install a center stand, all these hassles can be avoided! Also, since it's a stock product, the precision is perfect.

No.5: [HONDA Stock] Engine Guard

This time from HONDA, we have another engine guard ranking in at 5th place! As expected, stock HONDA products are popular. Compared to the DAYTONA engine guard mentioned earlier, this HONDA engine guard does not have a resin guard, but the price is lower because of that. Users who have installed the engine guard have commented that the design blends in well with the bike's body, and that it is useful in protecting the engine. As with all engine guards, the bank angle is limited, so riders with a deep bank angle should be careful.

No.4: [BEAMS] R-EVO Slip-on Exhaust

Finally, the first exhaust enters the ranking at 4th place! After all, exhausts are the first thing that comes to mind when you thinks of custom parts. Among the many slip-on exhausts, the most popular was BEAMS. The secret to its popularity is its bright titanium color and beautiful exhaust sound! You can listen to it in the video below.

After hearing this sound, you will want to put it on your own bike. Gaskets are also included, so there is no need to purchase separately. This exhaust makes you want to listen to the VTEC sound.

No.3: [OHLINS] Rear Suspension Legend Twin

suspension_ohlins_cb400sf_01.jpg

This rear suspension by the king of suspensions, OHLINS, comes in third place! The price is quite reasonable, and its high precision and wide range of adjustment is unmatched by the stock suspension. The available settings include suspension length from stock to +10mm, seamless preload, 30-level rebound damping, and 4-level compression damping, for the same specs as a supersport suspension. Even if you don't use the detailed settings, if you change from the stock suspension, you'll be able to experience the benefits of reduced friction loss. Users who have actually changed to this suspension have expressed their surprise, saying, "I can tell the gap from the road surface better," and "The grip of the tires seems to have improved". Once you buy one, you'll be able to overhaul it, so it will last almost a lifetime. Why don't you buy this gorgeous OHLINS suspension to commemorate the SF's last year?

No.2: [MORIWAKI] One Piece Full Exhaust

fullex_cb400sf_moriwaki_01.jpg

MORIWAKI is the best match for a HONDA bike! This classic-look full exhaust comes in at a close second. MORIWAKI is known for racing, and the CB400SF has raced on the Suzuka track. Its history goes back to the NK4 class in 1994, and in 1995 and 1996, it won first place in the 4-hour endurance race with more than 100 participants. This exhaust is packed with know-how gained from such harsh environments. The 4-in-1 merge method has race-oriented characteristics, and that's where MORIWAKI's technological expertise shines through. Within the simplicity is hidden advanced technology and glorious history. You can't go wrong with this exhaust.

No.1: [r's gear] Wyvern Classic Full Titanium Exhaust

fullex_cb400sf_rsgear_01.jpg

The sales of this full exhaust from r's gear were quite high, despite it's hefty price tag, putting it in first place! Although it did not sell as many as MORIWAKI's One Piece Exhaust, we chose it as No. 1 in consideration of its price. With the motto of "Highest Performance, Highest Quality," r's gear makes exhausts that allow riders to ride comfortably, while producing power in the normal rpm range. The flagship model, the Wyvern, is made of titanium from the exhaust pipe to the silencer, and is hand-bent by craftsmen. The heat coloring is beautiful, and it is a thoroughly sculpted work of art.

Good things never perish!

CB400SF_end_image_01.jpg

With several engine guards making it in, this ranking turned out to be very characteristic of the CB400SF. You can see that this is a bike that makes you want to take good care of it. Since production has just ended recently, it will be a little while, but one day the number of SFs will decrease and they will be called "classic bikes". But even so, they will continue to be ridden, because it is a bike for everyone that hasn't gone out of style over the past 30 years. However, parts will not last forever. If they become unprofitable, they may be discontinued. Before that happens, it might be a good idea to secure parts like the ones introduced here.
