Bewitchingly black plating! Custom Z900RS by PMC / ARCHI
The brand ARCHI is managed by PMC, a company based on Awaji Island, located near Osaka, Japan, which provides parts for both new and old Kawasaki Z series. Recently, they presented two Z900RS customs. The first one is called Blue Satellite, and the sample on display was loaded with "Jet-Black Plating" parts, which gave it a mysterious glow.
Resistant to color wash-out and corrosion
The Z900RS Blue Satellite produced by PMC is a matte blue color with gold and copper foil lines to give it a Japanese feel. Additionally, a new coloring technique was used to add texture to the many billet aluminum parts attached to the bike. This is the above mentioned "Jet-Black Plating", which gives the aluminum parts a deep, lacquer-like luster. This Jet-Black Plating has superior corrosion resistance compared to ordinary anodized aluminum, and the hardness of the coating maintains its luster over a long period of time, so much so that it can be said to last a lifetime. However, the Blue Satellite's Jet-Black Plating is still a prototype, and the only part currently available is the pillion grab bar (MSRP: 33,000 yen). Jet-black plating requires considerable skill to make, thus production is limited, and supply is not yet keeping up with demand, but we look forward to an expanded lineup in the future.
Z900RS handlebar-mounted steering damper
Another notable new part for PMC's Z900RS Custom is the YSS Steering Damper Kit (sample exhibit). With this kit, the steering damper, which is usually mounted under the stem, can be mounted on top of the handlebar stem. This change was proposed to enhance the custom look.
