Power and Control: YAMAHA V-MAX Custom

 4 min read

Webike's Opinion

Here is a "YAMAHA V-MAX" custom by Webike community user "Becchan". The front brake master cylinder uses a NISSIN Radial Brake Master Cylinder Kit. By changing from an axial mount to a radial mount, the front brake can be operated more directly. The lever position can be adjusted to six positions, helping the rider apply the front brake in an ideal position. The VMAX is a heavy bike, weighing approximately 290kg and the engine has explosive power and torque due to its large displacement and V-boost system. To firmly control a heavy motorcycle equipped with such an aggressive engine, using the radial mount is effective. The VMAX uses a hydraulic clutch instead of a cable. The owner also replaced the clutch master cylinder with a NISSIN Clutch Master Cylinder Kit. The lever can be adjusted to five positions.

It is said that the frame of the VMAX is not strong enough for its powerful engine. Subframes from ACTIVE have been installed to address this weakness. The material is not the common aluminum (A6063) but the superior A7N01. The beautiful buffed surface and ribbed pipe shape also enhance the bike's appearance. In addition, the bolt-on design makes installation easy. They also protect the engine in the event of a fall.

The steps have been replaced with OVER RACING's Rearsets Type 2, which can be changed to four positions. Its magnificent texture also makes it an effective part for enhancing the bike's look. The ideal step position also contributes to improving the maneuverability of the hulking VMAX.
