From Doubts to Devotion: YAMAHA V-MAX Custom
Webike's Opinion
Here is a "YAMAHA V-MAX" custom by Webike community user "Kikyouya". This was a bike that he didn't have his eye on at all, but when he happened to take a look at it at a shop, he fell in love at first sight and bought it then and there. After he got it, however, he felt so defeated by it that he wanted to return it, but now he is completely hooked. According to the owner, the V-MAX has the versatility to be styled as a cruiser or a touring bike, adapting to anything with ease, and he is currently customizing it with a café racer style in mind.
With more time spent riding on highways, he installed a HYPERPRO Steering Damper. As expected, it improved the front-end stability during high-speed rides, which also reduced fatigue. Another issue was the V-MAX 1200’s tachometer, which was positioned in a hard-to-see spot. Wanting to place it in a more visible location, the owner fitted a STACK ST200 Clubman Tachometer. After much trial and error, it ended up looking like it had always belonged there, blending seamlessly with the bike's aesthetics.
The steps were changed to WOODSTOCK Rearsets. While this did make the reach to the ground worse, the owner is satisfied with both the quality and the color coordination. Another modification was replacing the disappointingly weak stock horn. Due to poor local driving manners, a louder, better-sounding PIAA Sports Horn was installed between the exhaust pipes. While the owner hopes not to have to use it too often, having it in place offers peace of mind. As for future plans, his next customization goal is to do something about the rear wheel.
