50cc Power Surge: YAMAHA TZR50R Custom

Webike's Opinion

Here is a "YAMAHA TZR50R" custom by Webike community user "Pirozhki". A few years ago, the owner bought this TZR50R online and made a few modifications to share it with his son. Despite its 50cc engine, he is satisfied with the TZR50R’s large frame, presence, acceleration, and handling. With low maintenance costs, he enjoys it as a hobby, and it's definitely a fun bike to ride.

The exhaust system was upgraded to a KAWACHIYA FACTORY Racing Chamber, while the intake was swapped for a KITACO Big Funnel. Although he wasn't aiming for any super power upgrades, the top speed increased, and the acceleration feel improved. It now has a much livelier sound, and it attracts quite a bit of attention around town. He also praises the quality of the sound.

Previously, small aftermarket mirrors were installed, but his son, who rides the bike regularly, found the view to be too limited. As a result, the mirrors were replaced with YAMAHA Stock Mirrors. While he is not entirely satisfied with the design, it is clear from the photos that the size of the mirrors makes a noticeable difference.

The stock tail cowl had deteriorated and cracked, so he set out to replace it with another stock part. However, he decided to take the opportunity to go for something different and installed a black gel-finish KDC Service Seat Cowl. He is very happy with how well it blends with the motorcycle's overall look. The installation required cutting the subframe, so the modification was handled at his regular shop.

Since the bike still uses a separate oil tank, the visible oil tank is a concern, but he is not planning to race it, so it remains as is. He also wants to cover the visible holes on the sides with dummy parts. With the rear cowl replacement, the bike lost its storage space, so a DEGNER tank bag is now used for convenience. Despite being a 50cc, it hides an irresistible charm with its smooth acceleration and thrilling ride.
