The High-Performance SR that Redefines Style: YAMAHA SR400 Custom by DELL-SARA
DELL-SARA's SR400
With chassis and handling upgrades, this build also sharpens its look with a race-inspired exterior—a style that defines DELL-SARA’s specialty. Let’s take a closer look at the details.
The base is a 2004 SR400. The engine remains stock, but it’s fitted with a Yoshimura TMR-MJN carburetor and an AAA exhaust system, tuned for maximum performance. The fuel tank and front fender are original designs, and the addition of an R-type seat gives the bike a completely different, race-oriented look compared to the stock SR.
Moving to the suspension, the front forks remain stock but feature Hyperpro springs and WM preload adjusters for enhanced performance. The swingarm comes from BELTLAN and is paired with Ohlins rear shocks, a proven setup.
One detail not to be overlooked is the choice to retain spoked wheels while downsizing to smaller diameters and wider rims. Despite being a high-performance custom, the SR still retains its essential character, largely thanks to this wheel choice.
The finished machine is unmistakably a DELL-SARA creation at first glance. This is where the shop’s individuality and identity truly shine. It is a a superbly executed build.
Handlebar
No shortcuts were taken around the cockpit area either. A BORE-ACE stem kit, Sansei Racing clip-on handlebars, and an ACTIVE digital meter give the front end a fresh look. Interestingly, the tachometer remains stock, striking a perfect visual balance.
Bodywork
The original fuel tank adds to the race-inspired vibe, and the paintwork is handled by the familiar SIDEWINDERS team.
The seat is a Thruxton R seat, perfectly matching the machine’s overall mood.
Engine
Although the engine internals are stock, cooling and dress-up parts along with the new paint give it a dramatically different presence.
Intake & Exhaust
The AAA exhaust doesn’t just maximize engine performance, and it’s also a piece worth admiring for its looks.
Chassis
A Brembo caliper is paired with a Sunstar Premium Racing rotor. The combination strikes a perfect balance with the classic look of the spoked wheel.
The swingarm is from BELTLAN and the rear suspension from Ohlins, a proven combination for high-performance SR builds.
Of course, the bike uses rearsets—BORE-ACE units.
