A Striking, Deep-Green Chopper with Flowing Curves: YAMAHA SR400 Custom by HEIWA MOTORCYCLE

 5 min read

HEIWA MOTORCYCLE's SR400

Based in Hiroshima, Heiwa Motorcycles has a knack for turning any bike into a uniquely styled creation. From classic British models like Triumphs to modern machines such as the W650 and 250TR, and even homegrown "cruiser-style” bikes like the Rebel, their distinctive touch is unmistakable. The shop is also well known for its SR400 customizations, regularly releasing fully built machines. The bike featured here is the seventh full-custom SR from Heiwa MC. Its silhouette immediately signals a chopper-inspired design, with the seat rail modified to create a distinct, sleek profile. Every component—from the fuel tank and exhaust to the front and rear fenders—is custom-made, showcasing a high degree of originality.

But this machine isn’t just about looks. Speed and performance were equally prioritized. The engine has been upgraded to 500cc and fitted with a Yoshimura high-camshaft and high-compression piston, delivering a ride that’s a level above standard. The bold, large fins on the engine, proudly displaying its tuned nature, are another eye-catching feature. Other standout details include one-off clip-on style handlebars, a FLAVER leather seat, and carefully crafted steps. Built by Heiwa MC’s Kimura, now regarded as one of Japan’s leading SR400 builders, this bike blends traditional style with exceptional taste.

Handlebar

At first glance, it might look like a standard bar handlebar, but it’s actually a one-off clip-on type handlebar. Unlike typical clip-ons, it mounts on custom cylindrical posts, making it one of the most distinctive details of the bike.

Electrical

The headlight is crafted from a vintage fog lamp, a must-have for enhancing the bike’s retro-inspired character.

Bodywork

The FLAVER leather seat, a signature feature of Heiwa MC, strikes the perfect balance of size and presence.

The compact fuel tank is custom-made and painted in a beautiful green by SIXSHOOTER.

Engine

The engine has been upgraded to 500cc, and the oversized fin work dramatically changes its visual impact.

Intake & Exhaust

The exhaust follows a simple megaphone style. Its warm metallic hue is a distinctive touch of Heiwa MC.

Chassis

The steps, with their beautifully finished metal surfaces, are another highlight. Interestingly, the pedal located behind the step functions as a decompression lever!
