Rigidity Boost for Perfect Wheelies: YAMAHA SEROW250 Custom
Webike's Opinion
Here is a "YAMAHA SEROW250" custom by Webike community user "BOW". The owner had always been intrigued by the bike but hesitated to take the plunge. Then, while accompanying a friend to a motorcycle shop to check out his bike, he impulsively purchased the last available one. Originally purchased for off-road fun on forest trails and riverbanks, its outstanding fuel efficiency has led him to use it for touring as well. He describes the thrill of hopping on, opening the throttle slightly, and connecting the clutch to instantly pop a wheelie as immensely satisfying. He also appreciates how easygoing the bike is, making it a comfortable companion. The moderate power output means he has no urge to push for high speeds, which contributes to safer riding—something he values greatly.
Given his relatively heavier weight, the owner felt that the stock suspension was inadequate. To address this, he upgraded to the TGR Racing Wheel TEC-5.2 Performance Rear Shock. He explained, “The suspension movement is controlled by damping very smoothly, making the ride exceptionally smooth and flexible. The wide range of damping adjustments is easy to tweak, adding an element of fun to the setup process.” However, he says that raising the ride height meant installing both front and rear at the same time, which was a financial burden.
Another part highly rated by the owner is the Workshop Kitamura Sway Bar Set, which he praises for noticeably increasing rigidity. He notes that this product significantly reduces handlebar wobble during landings after wheelies. For the wheels, he installed Z-WHEEL AR1s. Chosen for their aesthetic appeal and compatibility with bead stoppers, these significantly reduce weight without sacrificing strength. He is thrilled with the increased tire options they provide. Additionally, owning two sets of wheels proves useful for maintenance tasks.
Three years after buying the bike brand new, the owner proudly says that it has nearly reached the form he envisioned. He asserts that a totally different world exists with a modified SEROW that can't be experienced on the stock version. Immersed in that world, he now enjoys forest road touring to the fullest.
