Built to Admire: SUZUKI KATANA Custom

 6 min read

Webike's Opinion

Here is a "SUZUKI KATANA" custom by Webike community user "ISA". When the owner went to his favorite motorcycle shop, he happened to see a new silver KATANA with a vermilion SUZUKI logo on display, and he just had to have it. He picked out almost all the custom parts right when he purchased the bike, and began installing them immediately after it got delivered.

He didn't have any complaints about the stock exhaust when he first bought the bike, but for the sake of looks decided to install the YOSHIMURA B-77 Slip-On Cyclone, which is an exhaust designed specifically for the new KATANA. YOSHIMURA's original style aluminum silencer is a product that encompases the history of both YOSHIMURA and the KATANA, and was born from experience racing the GSX1000S in the 80's. The B-77 is a beautiful piece that retains the style of the times, but has been revised for modern machines. The owner enjoyed this exhaust for about a year, but then decided to go for more power with a Titanium Cyclone Full Exhaust, also by YOSHIMURA, and is now looking forward to taking it for a test ride.

As for the exterior, he likes the design of the stock upper cowl (especially the tips next to the headlight, because they look sharp and cool like the point of a sword), so he purposefully kept it stock, but the rest of the body has been changed up. Though the owner has somewhat of a brand loyalty to YOSHIMURA, a wide variety of aftermarket parts from other brands are also available for the KATANA, and he enjoys being able to choose from a wide range of designs, functions, and prices. For the rear cowl, the glossy, all-black rear fender was a little too much for him, so he replaced it with a carbon-spec cowl made by A-TECH and also added SUZUKI carbon-look protection stickers on the sides. The stock option Colored Seat was also selected to add an accent in red.

The owner says that the KATANA is not just fun to ride, but it might even be more fun to tinker with in the garage, comparing it to building a life-size plastic model. He comments that whether you want to ride or just admire your bike, you can't go wrong with a KATANA, and he looks forward to enjoying future customization projects.
