Crafted with Care: SUZUKI GSX-R1000R Custom by BrightLogic
BrightLogic's GSX-R1000R
Bright Logic has built many GSX customs and produced many replicas of the YOSHIMURA GSX-R racers of the past. You might even say that GSX-Rs naturally gather at this shop. The one thing that never changes for all their customs is Mr. Takenaka's set-in-stone philosophy of "building a base that brings out the proper functions of the bike", and this bike is no different. It is the latest GSX-R, the R1000R M2 ('22 model), recognizable by its Triton Blue Metallic body color and large SUZUKI logo on the sides. The owner commissioned this custom, and many parts were upgraded in endurance racer style. You would call this bike "fully loaded", however it's not just the addition of parts, but the care that goes into it that's important.
The front and rear wheels are now MAGTAN JB4 and the bike sports Ohlins front forks and a TTX rear shock. These parts are all cleaned and greased when being replaced. At Bright Logic, this is the same even if the bike or parts are brand new. This may sound obvious, but it is something that is often surprisingly inadequately performed. You can't just skip over this process because the bike is high performance or because it is brand new. In order to bring out that performance, everything has to be properly checked. That's why it's so important. In the case of the GSX-R series, you could say that it is even more important. The damper rubber that goes into the rear wheel is also removed, coated with rubber grease, and then put back in place. This helps to properly mitigate the shock to the rear wheel when shifting gears and during acceleration/deceleration. This is important because it affects (and in some cases destroys) the engine.
The front master cylinder is a Brembo, which is a natural choice for Bright Logic. The length of the hoses was also taken into consideration so as not to disrupt the good touch and linear operation, and the rear brake was set so that it won't lock. As is standard for the shop on the GSX-R1000, the mirrors were changed from the front side of the stock cowl to a rear side mount for a sleeker look. After the customizations were finished, the owner rode the bike, and an adjustment kit was made to adjust the ride height. This is a natural step, but it is important for creating a good ride, and may be just as important as the overall finish of the bike.
Handle
The steering stem is stock and the front master cylinder is replaced with a Brembo, which Bright Logic considers mandatory. In this case, an RCS Corsa Corta is used. The wire-driven clutch is replaced with a Brembo Mechanical Clutch Lever. The handlebar grips are by YOSHIMURA.
Bodyworks
The front cowl has been converted to a CLEVER WOLF '17- Street Full Cowl, including the headlights, and painted in the stock color. The mirrors are Magical Racing Racer Replicas with TYPE-4 head, mounted with a bracket on the inside of the cowl instead of on the front (as with the stock mirrors) to centralize mass and improve visibility. The mounting holes on the front side are now hidden by SPEEDRA Mirror Hole Covers.
The turn signals are ultra-compact LEDs mounted on the front edges of the left and right side cowls and on the sides of the license plate holder for the rear. The inner fenders can be attached and removed smoothly, and the bike can be easily made ready for the track by simply removing the license plate holder and wires that attach to it, as well as the mirrors.
The seat cowl has also been replaced with a CLEVER WOLF Endurance Seat Cowl with stock-style graphics.
Engine
The liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve straight-4 999cc engine and aluminum twin-spar frame are stock, with GBRacing's FIM-approved engine covers installed on the sides of the engine. The quick fasteners used to split the cowl indicate that the exterior has been modified.
Chassis
The step kit is a YOSHIMURA X-TREAD. The drive chain is the same 525 size as stock and RK's 525XXW was chosen.
The front forks are Ohlins FGRT224 (FG R/T NIX) and the front brakes are composed of Brembo CNC 4P Racing Radial Calipers and Brembo Super Sport Discs. BABYFACE Axle Sliders are also equipped.
The rear shock is an Ohlins TTX2018GP (SU468).
The rear brakes use a Brembo GP2-SS2P Caliper with a SUNSTAR Works Expand Disc. The silencer is a YOSHIMURA R-11Sq Cyclone with ST Titanium Cover.
The wheels are MAGTAN JB4 with the same 3.50-17/6.00-17 size as stock. The twill weave carbon chain guard and rear fender are by Magical Racing. A Kijima Helmet Lock with rear camera for drive recorder and BABYFACE Racing Hook are also installed.
