A well-crafted without Being Flashy.: ZX-14R Custom
Shabon Dama's ZX-14R
The recent trend in customization is that more and more owners are enjoying small, unobtrusive customization rather than flashy customization that can be seen at a glance. This ZX-14R has been heavily customized in terms of wheels, brakes, and the exterior, but the black color scheme makes it look like a stock bike. The ZX-14R's customization concept was to reduce weight and upgrade performance. The weight was mainly reduced under the springs by using carbon fiber for the exhaust, wheels, and under cowl. It contributes greatly to the improved performance of the ZX-14R, and it also makes it easier to maneuver for the big displacement ZX-14R.
In addition, the brakes have been modified from the master cylinder to the calipers and disc rotors to improve braking power and control. In addition, they changed the bolts to titanium to reduce weight and increase the rigidity of the braking system. Also, the front fork springs and rear shock absorbers were replaced with HyperPro suspension parts, which were selected for ease of use on the streets, especially for touring. For the engine, Nojima Engineering's Type SC and Rapid Bike Easy Kit were installed, and the ideal air-fuel ratio was adjusted to match the exhaust perfectly. Furthermore, the T-REV α system was also installed to provide milder engine braking and other engine characteristics to make the engine easier to handle.
Bodyworks
The stock windshield is low and does not provide air resistance at high speeds, so it was replaced with Zero Gravity's double-bubble smoke windshield. It provides sufficient wind protection without sacrificing appearance.
The front fender and under cowl are made of carbon to reduce weight. The under cowl is made of A-Tec's twill weave carbon, which has a beautiful carbon fiber weave.
Electrical
The big displacement bike, the more unstable the body posture will be if too much engine braking is applied when downshifting. For this reason, the T-REV is installed to reduce its effect.
Handle
The Gale Speed radial master cylinder for the hydraulic clutch has improved operation. The fluid also uses colored fluid released by Active.
Intake & Exhaust
The exhaust is a Nojima Engineering Type SC, and the silencer is DLC coated to match the chassis. The monoshock was changed to HyperPro.
Chassis
Although hidden by the heel guard, the rear brake master cylinder is a Gale Speed one released by Active. It is also highly valued for its ease of control and the wide variety of attachments that make it convenient for installation.
The custom parts are all black, but the bolts used in key areas, such as the brake area, have been replaced with titanium bolts. In addition to providing a solid and rigid feel, this also contributes to weight reduction.
The brake calipers are Brembo CNC484 and the rotors are Galespeed Crosslock Φ310mm. The wheels are Gailspeed Type R wheels.
