Meticulously Crafted Appearance and Diligent Maintenance: ZRX1200R Custom
TAKUYA8's ZRX1200/R
The ZRX1200R was introduced in 2001, four years after the launch of the ZRX1100, as its successor. The ZRX1200R retained the basics, such as the square body design, headlight cowl, and steel double cradle frame (with an aluminum detachable right down tube), along with the rocker-arm DOHC 4-valve liquid-cooled straight-4 engine derived from the GPZ900R, while incorporating many updates. The concept behind this customization was to enhance the exterior and riding experience, and although the exterior coloring appears to be stock, it has undergone a full paint job. It is based on a 2002 carbureted model but closely resembles the stock metallic spark black color and pattern of the 2013 and 2015 ZRX1200DAEG (both featuring a different red line on the fuel tank). The full paint job gives the bike the image of a well-tailored stock model.
The owner currently prioritizes maintenance over customization, replacing consumable parts. The fact that he is repairing the worn-out parts of his 20-year-old bike while also updating it by reducing weight and increasing rigidity shows his passion for the bike. As a side note, the owner chose the 1200R over the DAEG because he prefers the look of the 1200R's carburetor. Interestingly, the owner's father owns a ZRX1200 DAEG, and since the parts are compatible with the 1200R, he is willing to install parts (such as front forks) that can be upgraded to take advantage of the shared compatibility between these two bike models. It's impressive that he has consistently pursued these modifications, resulting in a mature appearance.
Handle
The windshield is replaced with an MRA Smoke Type, and a Yoshimura digital multi-meter is added to the stock gauges. The handlebar is changed to a gold color, and the master cylinders are upgraded to a Brembo radial on the right and a Brembo RCS on the left. Additionally, a TWM Racing fuel tank cap is attached.
Bodyworks
The pattern and color scheme that closely resemble the stock Metallic Spark Black of the 2015 model DAEG were painted by an acquaintance, but the remarkable part is that it looks completely as stock design.
Engine
The engine remains stock, but the radiator is changed to a round type. It is equipped with a K-Factory front sprocket cover. And OVER rearsets are chosen.
Intake & Exhaust
The carburetor is set with FCR Φ41mm in a funnel specification. The exhaust system combines a Nojima Titanium EX with a Leo Vince Titanium silencer.
Chassis
The front forks feature Ohlins upright black series, and the front brakes are equipped with Brembo axial P4 30/34 calipers and Sunstar brake discs.
The rear brake uses Brembo P2 32 calipers and the stock brake discs. The rear shock is provided by Ohlins, and the swingarm is reinforced with K/style to connect the upper and lower sections of the stock ribbed D-shaped aluminum truss. The wheels are Galespeed Type-R, with sizes 3.50-17/5.50-17.
