High Turning Performance by Mono Shock: ZRX1200DAEG Custom
NOJIMA's ZRX1200DAEG
For two years starting in 1999, Nojima Engineering brought the ZRX1100 to the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race. At that time, races of naked-motorcycles has often been held in Japan. They participated in that race, and their ZRX1100 made many people amazed and fascinated by passing others of supersport-machines. This ZRX1200 DAEG is a recreation of that ZRX1100.
Naked-motorcycle naturally has a number of disadvantages when compared to any supersport machines, such as weight and turning performance. As the one of Nojima's strategies, they replaced twin shocks with a monoshock. Additionally steel frame was also replaced with the one made of chromoly to improve the overall turning performance. Chromoly is lighter and stronger than steel at the same pipe diameter with the thinner wall thickness, which is essential for improved turning performance. In addition, a monoshock is used in the rear, with a Wheelie's dedicated swingarm and a Nojima's linkage. This allows the bike to flex appropriately while the suspension maximizes the grip of the tires, resulting in high turning performance. This naked-motorcycle is a faithful recreation of the legendary Nojima's ZRX1100, which boasts supersport-like turning performance.
Bodyworks
Upper cowl is mounted to the frame for nimble handling, with a Acry-Point's windshield and a left sided headlight which is a proof of endurance race speculation.
A Moto-Gadget's Chrono-Classic Meter is installed on the carbon plate, which has a simplified look and is easy to purchase. A monitor inside is made of liquid crystal.
Rear blinkers are OEM parts of Z900RS. The mount boos is similar to that of the Z900RS, so they tried it out and were able to install it without modification. The small size makes the rear clean.
Intake & Exhaust
This is GTS-DLC Hand-Bent Titanium Full Exhaust System, made by Nojima Engineering, to increase the power of stock engine.
Exhaust pipe has a stock air-fuel ratio sensor and a BOSCH's wide band lambda sensor which comes with performance chip MY TUNING BIKE. These parts automatically controll exhaust depending on the weather.
Engine
K&N's custom filter was installed instead of an air cleaner box because it will interfere with mono shock. A thing you can see at the back is an oil catch tank.
Radiator has replaced with a bigger one to keep the water temperature even in summer, and water pipe is made of titanium by Nojima, to improve cooling efficiency.
Electrical
In terms of ECU, Rapid Bike EVO's performance chip controlls fuel injection amount. Additionally, MY TUNING BIKE automatically keeps the air fluo ratio which can change depending on the weather.
Chassis
Linkage mono shock improves the trackability to large extent and maximizes the grip strength of high grip tires. Wheelie's swingarm is dedicated product, and mono shock is modified Ohlins product for this bike's concept.
Side cover is Nojima's aluminum side cover with a painted surface. Frame is made of chromoly steel with powder coating.
Front fork is Ohlins' FGRT developed for supersport machines, and it is installed with Wheelie's mono block system. For this specification, Ducati supersport machines' front fender is selected.
Swingarm is Wheelie's twin-sparm swingarm specially designed for the monoshock. The chain is ThreeD Chain made by Enuma Chain, and sprocket is ZAM.
Brembo's radial mount brake is used for the front wheel, and brake disc is Sunstar's Works Expand. Also Wheels are Marchesini Aluminum Forged Wheels.
