Maintenance Magic: KAWASAKI ZEPHYR750 Custom by Bagus!

 11 min read

Bagus!'s ZEPHYR750

Bagus! Motorcycle offers a "Vehicle Inspection Bike Doc" menu focusing on the Zephyr 1100/750 and liquid-cooled Kawasaki motorcycles. This service provides a health check at the time of vehicle inspection, which is required once every two years after vehicle registration in Japan. "Originally, when a vehicle came in for inspection, even if there were parts that needed to be replaced or serviced, the owner would often say, 'I'll just do it next time.' I always thought, 'If we work on that part right now, it will be in better condition,' so I put together a menu and have been doing it for about 10 years now," says Mr. Tsuchiya of Bagus! While the vehicle inspection involves continuing inspections and extending insurance coverage, the rest of the actual work is totally up to the store. There are cases when a vehicle is brought in for inspection, but all that is done is to bring it to the inspection station and complete the paperwork.

"I'm sure each store has its own ways, but both the stores and the customers are missing out on a great opportunity for maintenance. We also want customers who don't know much about motorcycles to be able to ride with more peace of mind. Since they leave their bikes with us for inspection, it would be more efficient for us to do the work that can be done while the bike is with us, rather than just taking it in. We have received many requests, and it is very popular since we launched the service. I guess that a lot of our customers had the idea of having maintenance done during the inspection, but they didn't have a concrete outline of what needs to be done, so I think that's why they choose the service." This is the best timing to have the work done rather than a certain mileage or period of time. Furthermore, the contents of the work are organized into menus, and any other negatives found during the work are reported immediately, which has the advantage of leading to countermeasures and the implementation of soup-up menus. Long story short, this Zephyr 750 has also been treated with the "Vehicle Inspection Bike Doc" menu. On top of that, the necessary parts were replaced, the engine was overhauled, and an additional customization menu was performed. Original parts from Bagus! are used effectively in each area, making the bike look sleeker. Even though the bike is in use, it is surprisingly light to push and pull, as if it has just been assembled and adjusted. Mr. Tsuchiya tells us, "I think the order of assembly and the 520 drive chain are contributing to the lightness." This is the effect of the refurbishment. If the effects of the refurbishment/customization can be seen like this, it would be worthwhile to have the Vehicle Inspection Bike Doc done. The smartness and lightness of this bike are supported by such a menu.
