Exquisite Balance of Deep Black and Matte Finishes: KAWASAKI Z900RS Custom by PMC
PMC's Z900RS
Under its in-house brand ARCHI, PMC has been developing products for current models centered around the Z900RS. The machine featured here was exhibited at PMC’s booth during the 2025 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, introduced as the ARCHI Z900RS SE Edition. In short, this build showcases a complete lineup of “Deep Black Edition” parts—first introduced at the 2024 show as high-end components for the Z900RS under the ARCHI brand. The Deep Black Edition refers to a series of machined aluminum parts given a unique deep black treatment developed by PMC. Unlike regular anodizing, this special process gives the parts a luxurious depth of color along with high weather resistance. Due to the complex manufacturing method, each part is produced in small quantities, and the line is available exclusively through 25 select dealers nationwide.
Over the past year, PMC has expanded its lineup of Deep Black parts for the Z900RS, and it’s now virtually complete. Looking at this demo bike, the machined components stand out for their craftsmanship and visual presence, yet they never look overly flashy. They make a statement, but in a refined, tasteful way. Even with a large number of custom parts installed, the overall balance of the bike remains intact— a key point that makes this build stand out.
The bike’s bodywork features a matte black and gray “fireball” pattern, harmonizing beautifully with the Deep Black Edition components. It’s not just a simple monotone color scheme—the tones are carefully balanced, giving the bike a strong sense of depth. Even after stepping away, the refined shape and detailed finish of the machine leave a vivid impression. This build will appeal to riders who like the precision look of billet parts but prefer a more subdued shine, as well as those who enjoy monochrome color schemes and want subtle highlights within them. For both types, the Deep Black Edition lineup offers excellent inspiration, and this demo bike is a perfect example of how it all comes together. PMC says that while the lineup is now nearly complete, new parts are still in development. For riders who want to give their Z900RS a distinctive edge, this “deep black” style is worth keeping an eye on.
Handlebar
One highlight of the Deep Black Edition is the mix of textures between the black finish and the machined aluminum. A billet honeycomb handlebar upper clamp holds a low stainless handlebar, while parts such as the stem top cap and tank cap ring are also Deep Black Edition components. These changes, visible from the rider’s position, greatly enhance the sense of ownership and quality.
Bodywork
In addition to the Deep Black Edition parts, this bike also features several components from the ARCHI lineup: a Long Tail Cowl, a Seat Assembly (fitted here with the premium “Viper Seat” in suede-like backskin finish), and a Tandem Grab Bar designed specifically for the Long Tail Cowl. Together, these parts create a unified, high-quality look.
Under the Long Tail Cowl, which extends 60 mm beyond the stock end, the Slight Rear Fender moves the taillight roughly the same distance while covering the space that tends to remain empty at the rear. The Stainless Polished Inner Panel, made of polished stainless steel for the seat rail, is also installed. This shows the thoroughness of PMC’s customization, even in areas not immediately visible.
Additional Deep Black components include the Billet Honeycomb Rearsets Kit Ver.2, Sprocket Cover, and ARCHI Logo Plug Series Swingarm Pivot caps.
Engine
The finned engine covers seen here are prototypes, but other Deep Black Edition parts such as the Billet Honeycomb Suspension Link Plate are already in place. The combination of the machined honeycomb pattern and black-plated finish gives the engine area a distinct presence and enhances the overall sense of precision.
Intake & Exhaust
The bike features a Double Bubble Intake (D.B.I.) with carbon fiber ducts in a matte finish, along with other custom matte carbon parts made specifically for this machine.
The exhaust is the ARCHI 427 Short Exhaust (6-piece, Deep Black finish), made from 42.7 mm pipes for a bold and aggressive appearance. The 427 Short Exhaust is available in three main versions, with a total of five specifications:
2018–2022 JMCA-approved (Deep Black finish)
2023–2025 JMCA-approved (Deep Black finish)
Track-use only (non-street legal in Japan)
Like other Deep Black Edition parts, the track-use version is available only through select dealers.
Chassis
All of the installed parts—including the Billet Honeycomb Subframe—are either currently available or scheduled for release. For the full lineup, check the official ARCHI website: https://archi-gi.com/

When it comes to KAWASAKI's Z-series custom parts, there may not be a more professional brand than PMC, even the parts compatible with the 1972 Z1. PMC has improved and grown, has been exhibited 7 times at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. About 4,000 riders came to the 10th motorcycle festival of "West Japan Z meeting" held by PMC in 2019.
