0024 WORKS' Z900RS

This Kawasaki Z900RS, finished in the stock 2020–’21 Tiger color (Candy Tone Green), achieves a perfect contrast with its selected parts. It belongs to Mr. Onishi, the owner of 0024 Works in Toyama. The standout features lie in the color scheme and the parts choices.

“I bought the bike in late 2019 when this color first became available (the 2020 model went on sale on August 1, 2019), and at that time I chose parts to shape it the way I wanted. Overall, I picked parts that would match the yellow tones of this Tiger color,” explains Onishi. As you can see, the gold accents throughout the bike match the yellow tones precisely.

While Marchesini wheels and Ohlins shocks are common upgrades, they provide reliable performance improvements. The rearsets kit is from BEET. “Before settling on this one, I bought and replaced rearsets kits from three different brands,” Onishi recalls. Being able to custom-order the color was the deciding factor. Additional bodywork, like the under cowl and café racer cowl kit, is painted in a way that keeps the color scheme unified, almost like original parts.

A closer look reveals that the handlebars are clip-ons. “I planned from the start to install clip-on handlebars. The front cowl is from American Dream, but at the time there weren’t commercially available brackets for the Z900RS yet, so we made a custom bracket to mount it lower for the clip-on handlebars,” says Onishi. He adds, “Before this, I rode a Ninja ZX-10R. The Z900RS is enjoyable to ride, and it makes you want to tweak it in various ways. Plus, it brings back memories of riding bikes like this when I was younger.”

0024 Works also offers custom fabrication of this original fairing bracket if customers are willing to wait. The original top bridge cover, which hides the handlebar mount holes, and the attention to detail in the parts and color choices, demonstrate the shop’s craftsmanship and suggest that 0024 Works is a name to watch in the future.

Handlebar

A rear-view monitor is mounted above the instrument cluster behind the headlight, giving the rider a clear view of the rear.

The stock handlebars and mounts were removed to install Hurricane clip-on handlebars, and an original top bridge cover (0024 Works) was fitted to hide the holes. The front master cylinder is a Brembo RCS.

Bodywork

The café racer cowl is from American Dream. When the bike was acquired, Z900RS-specific brackets had not yet been released (they became available at the end of 2020), so 0024 Works fabricated custom brackets, which allow the cowl to be mounted lower to fit the Hurricane clip-on handlebars. Similarly low-mounted mirrors are the NK-1 Type 3 heads with carbon monocoque bodies from Magical Racing.

The seat has been replaced with a tuck 'n roll style. The tail cowl is extended, and the turn signals are downsized to balance the bike’s silhouette.

On the engine side, an OVER Racing subframe has been added. The sprocket cover is also from OVER Racing, and the injection cover and radiator shroud are replaced with carbon parts. A BEET radiator core guard is installed, along with components from other manufacturers, creating a balanced setup.

Engine

The engine and frame are stock. A T-REV system was added to reduce internal pressure. TRICK STAR engine case protectors were installed on both sides of the crankcase.

Chassis

The front forks use Ohlins cartridges, paired with Brembo .484 calipers and Sunstar discs for the brakes.

The rear shock is an Ohlins. The reasets kit is a BEET custom color order, chosen after testing three other brands.

The rear brake setup includes a Brembo 2-piston caliper, Sunstar disc, and Goodridge brake lines. An OVER Racing swingarm is installed.

The wheels are 7-spoke Marchesini M7RS forged aluminum, sized 3.50-17 front and 6.00-17 rear. The rear tire is a wide 200/50.
