The Perfect Balance: KAWASAKI Z900RS Custom by STRIKER
STRIKER's Z900RS
The Z900RS combines a 948cc liquid-cooled straight-4 engine with a body designed in the style of the classic air-cooled Z. Since its release at the end of 2017, the Z900RS has continued to be popular as a unique machine that goes a little beyond neo-retro. This custom, built by STRIKER WORKS, uses the Z900RS as its base and is one of their SZ (the name given to STRIKER's complete customs) series builds. Their SZ customs completed in 2023 bear the name SZ-023.
STRIKER is an aftermarket parts manufacturer that develops parts to make the Z900RS more enjoyable to ride. This custom started out with their "Basic Pack", which includes a Clip-on Handlebar Kit, G-STRIKER Swingarm, STC Step Kit, and Street Concept Titanium Full Exhaust, all made by STRIKER. There are of course advantages to using each part, but also to combining parts from the same brand. In addition, by equipping them all at once, there is the added benefit of a greater total balance. In fact, the bike feels more maneuverable and compact, and the rider feels more at home in the saddle.
In addition to the "Basic Pack", a "Custom Plan" is also available as an upgrade menu that allows for further modifications to each part of the bike. In this case, the owner has chosen to have the front master cylinder, calipers, discs, and rear shock changed, as well as switching out the tail cowl and wheels, installing a STRIKER WORKS seat, and having a paint job done in the classic "Fireball" pattern, making this truly a full custom. The green accent parts were installed by the owner himself, and you could say that he is enjoying customizing with the SZ-023 package itself as the base.
Handle
The G-STRIKER Clip-on Handlebar Kit + Billet Under Bracket Set and the STRIKER Sport Touring Concept STC Step Kit are central components of the SZ package and enhance the rider's feeling of connection with the bike.
Bodyworks
The exterior is painted in green with the "Fireball" pattern as one of the options available for the SZ-023 package. A Type 2 CNC Billet Aluminum Quick Open Fuel Tank Cap with DBT by MOTO CORSE is also added.
The seat has been changed to a STRIKER WORKS "Mild Seat". The tail cowl is replaced with a DOREMI COLLECTION Z1 Type and painted to match the rest of the exterior.
Engine
For the engine area, the STRIKER parts included in the SZ-023 menu include a Radiator Core Guard, "SAD" Special Under Cowl, and Carbon Composite Guard Sliders. STRIKER Aero Design "SAD" Carbon Radiator Side Shrouds have also been added. The green bolts on various parts were selected by the owner.
Intake & Exhaust
The exhaust is a STRIKER Street Concept Titanium Full Exhaust, and the Black Line version available in the Custom Plan has been chosen.
Chassis
The step is the STRIKER Sport Touring Concept STC Step included in the SZ Basic Pack. It allows the bar position to be adjusted to four positions, and is designed to reduce fatigue.
The front forks are stock ø41mm inverted and have been changed from the original tuning menu to incorporate an Ohlins Cartridge Kit (FKS511/NIX30 Street). The front brakes are composed of a Brembo RCS Master Cylinder, Brembo 484 Café Racer Calipers, and SUNSTAR Works Expand Discs.
The rear shock is an Ohlins Black Line with ARCHI Link Plates. The green bolts/collars add a nice accent to the black color.
The rear brakes are a combination of Brembo CNC 2P Caliper and a SUNSTAR Works Expand Disc.
The G-STRIKER Swingarm is finished in matte black. The 5-spoke wheels are MAGTAN JB1 in 3.50-17/6.00-17 sizes, with Pirelli DIABLO ROSSO CORSA IV tires in 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17 sizes.
