It has already been five years since KAWASAKI launched the Z900RS at the end of 2017, and it continues to evolve amidst its continuing popularity, with additions such as the two new colors for the '24 model and the Yellow Ball Edition. Naturally, many custom parts and in turn many custom bikes have also appeared.

This Z900RS CAFE, customized by 0024 WORKS in the stock 2020 Ebony and Vintage Lime Green color, is a good reference for what to look for and how to put together a good custom from the plethora of parts and styles available for the Z900RS.

"This custom was put together based on two themes; YOSHIMURA and the color black. The short pipe exhaust, radiator core guard, and Wind Armor windshield are all made by YOSHIMURA, and matte black was chosen for the color of each part," says Mr. Onishi of 0024 WORKS.

Their standard style is one that uses the American Dream Half Cowl Kit, mounted slightly lower with 0024's original bracket, equipped with an American Dream Neo Short Exhaust and forged Marchesini wheels, with a 200-size tire on the rear. However, the fact that they can also create a completely different style is what's good about this bike.

The comment that the Z900RS "continues to evolve amidst its continuing popularity" mentioned at the beginning of this article means it doesn't get boring by not changing at all, nor does it get tiring from having too much change, but rather it has just the right amount of change to fit the times and move towards the future. This custom is a good example of how such a perfect balance has been achieved to make the Z900RS even more fun. This bike shows us that the charm of the Z900RS can be enhanced by each custom and the work of shops like 0024 WORKS.

Handle

The handlebars have been changed from the stock bar type to HURRICANE Clip-on Handlebars TYPE1 (for Z900RS CAFE). The top bridge with the risers removed is fitted with a 0024 WORKS Top Bridge Cover. The gauges are now white paneled and the stock front master cylinder/clutch holder have adjustable levers. The turn signals have also been changed to smaller ones.

Bodyworks

The seat is a Tuck 'n Roll type, and a long tail cowl and Z2 taillight are equipped to create a sleek look.

Engine

The 948cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine, FI, and steel tube trellis frame are stock, and the radiator is equipped with a YOSHIMURA core protector.

Intake & Exhaust

The sides of the frame are equipped with OVER Racing Subframes to accentuate the look. The exhaust system is a YOSHIMURA Hand-bent Straight Cyclone.

Chassis

The link plates, which are offered in special-order colors, are made by 0024 WORKS, and green was chosen for the color.

YOSHIMURA X-TREAD Steps were selected in accordance with the custom concept. The frame plugs are made by 0024 WORKS and are also special-ordered green (The 0024 WORKS logo is laser-engraved).

The φ41mm inverted forks and front brake calipers are stock. The front discs are SUNSTAR Premium Racing.

The rear brakes also use the stock caliper (single-piston) with a SUNSTAR Trad Disc.

The swingarm is stock, and the rear shock is an Ohlins Blackline that blends in with the chassis. The wheels are OZ Racing's forged aluminum GASS RS-A wheels, one size larger for the rear (3.50-17/6.00-17), with the same 200-size wide tire used on most other Z900RS customs by 0024 WORKS. The drive chain is an EK 525SRX2.
