BULL DOCK's Z1000R

BULL DOCK remains actively engaged in parts development, including the introduction of a 6-speed transmission for the Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 to its product lineup. The store consistently produces custom-completed GT-Ms (Genuine Tuning Machines), and this Lawson replica is one of their recent creations. However, it appears to have a slightly different origin compared to other GT-Ms.

"It is based on the Z1000R2. We received an order from a customer who already had a 17-inch Z1 to build a Lawson replica, which he really wanted. He wished for the chassis of the Z1 to be transplanted as much as possible, so we decided to use Marchesini wheels," says Mr. Wakui of BULL DOCK. The high quality of their GT-Ms, where the engine and bodywork are all customized in-house, provides a quality and lightness that can be felt in every bike. This is what Mr. Wakui always emphasizes - the natural build and appearance. Furthermore, it also aligns with his intention not to make the 'ride' itself something special, but rather to provide a casual ride. This Lawson replica feels lighter than usual in terms of pushing, pulling, and handling. I had a similar impression in the past when the engine position was raised to cater to sport-oriented customers. It resembles the latest 750cc class bikes. "In the case of the Lawson replica, raising the rear end slightly and adjusting the caster gives it that impression" explains Mr. Wakui. However, This is likely due to the differences in characteristics based on the specific base bike, considering that the GT-M maintains a common overall finish, as mentioned earlier. The GT-M can be customized to incorporate both the characteristics of the base model and the customer's preferences. This is what it means to strive for the optimal configuration for each customer.

Handle

The beautiful pattern/lime green paint color is of the stock Z1000R2. The bikini cowl is from McCoy, and the turn signals have been transplanted. The left and right master cylinders are GALE SPEED, and the handlebars are from FANATIC. The stem is also from McCoy with adjustable offset, and the gauge is an ULTRA stepping motor tachometer/digital speedometer/Yoshimura Progress (which displays oil temperature, etc.) mounted on BULL DOCK's original carbon garnish.

Electrical

The front turn signals consist of small LEDs mounted on the side of the oil cooler, while the rear turn signals are vertically mounted on the side of the license plate holder, also utilizing small LEDs. These components are frequently chosen in recent GT-M projects due to their excellent visibility, adaptable wiring, and ease of maintenance.

Engine

Since the Z1000R originally features a J-series head, the engine was configured to take advantage of its base. This bike has been upgraded from 999cc to 1135cc with φ73mm forged pistons and Extra Super Tarkalloy/outer copper-plated sleeves, and the internal combustion engine was meticulously machined in-house by BULL DOCK following GT-M methods. The photo showcases BULL DOCK's original McCoy brand outboard and offset sprockets, which provide external support for the output shaft bearing. Every detail comes together seamlessly.

Intake & Exhaust

The carburetor is a dual-stack FCR-MJN. The selection and setup of the suitable replacement is also meticulously performed in accordance with the engine specifications.

The full titanium exhaust system is a WinMcCoy full exhaust with internal 4-2-1 construction. The swingarm is the original 7N01 aluminum-reinforced McCoy.

Chassis

The rear shock is an Ohlins Legend Twin. The step is McCoy, and the drive chain is RK X-XW520 Black, a 520 size that reduces loss and is highly durable.
