Timeless Kawasaki, Tuned to Perfection: KAWASAKI Z1000MkII Custom
Webike's Opinion
Here is a "KAWASAKI Z1000MkII" custom by Webike community user "KATS". The MkII model was manufactured between 1978 and 1980. The owner is particularly fond of the navy and gold color scheme of this bike. He’s also drawn to the distinctive sound of Kawasaki’s air-cooled four-cylinder engines from that era, appreciating both the engine and exhaust notes of this bike. Purchased in 2018, the full overhaul and customizations were completed in 2023, and the owner plans to maintain its current state for the time being.
The engine displacement was increased from 1,015cc to 1,045cc using a WISECO Over Bore Piston Kit. Additionally, a JB POWER (BITO R&D) FCR Carburetor was installed, significantly improving throttle response and providing a powerful acceleration experience. To enhance braking response and control, a Brembo Radial Brake Master Cylinder was added, delivering a more linear brake feel. The brake calipers were also replaced with Brembo, further boosting braking power. Given the increasing rarity and rising market value of this model, theft is a constant concern. To protect it, a KIJIMA Cycle Alarm Combat 5 was installed. Despite its compact size, it emits a loud 110dB alarm.
The front and rear suspensions feature OHLINS, and with a PMC Swingarm, the bike achieves smoother performance. The main swingarm pipe is crafted from a 7N01 special square aluminum pipe, known for its top-tier strength among aluminum alloys, while also offering excellent weldability. For the wheels, GALE SPEED TYPE-N was selected. The symmetrical six-spoke design harmonizes well with the classic look of the bike, enhancing its nostalgic style. Moreover, the lightweight and highly rigid forged wheels contribute to better fuel efficiency and overall ride quality.
