Meet Our Official Partner: HONDA DAX Custom by @my50bike
Webike's Opinion
Webike Official Partners have come together with Webike Japan to create the world's greatest "Riders' Connection". Here is a "HONDA DAX" custom by Webike Official Partner "@my50bike". The exhaust system is equipped with a Tanaka Trading Stainless Steel Exhaust for DAX, perfectly suited to the engine and jetting. This significantly enhances the bike’s performance and sound. Various other footpegs can be used to accommodate this exhaust system. Due to the engine swap to 125cc, the increased speed and torque mean there’s a risk of the bike flipping with the stock swingarm. Thus, a longer swingarm is installed, especially effective in the lower gear range. A longer brake arm may be required for the extra length of the swingarm.
To handle the larger engine capacity, Tanaka Trading Front Fork Drum Brake Kit is installed. Combined with the longer swingarm, this further improves the bike's stability and handling. With the more powerful motor, a more robust DID Standard Series Chain is used. This chain excels in both functionality and wearing, with its gold color adding a cool vibe. For cutting the chain to size, the Minimoto Chain Cutting Tool is convenient. Maintaining the chain in good condition greatly impacts riding performance, and a new chain ensures longer sprocket life. To match the more modern bike style, the mirrors are also replaced with Keio Parts Universal Blue Lense Mirror Square. These low-down mirrors suit the adjusted riding position and provide better stability at high speeds than the stock long-stem mirrors.
Since the electrical system is upgraded, all indicators needed to be switched to accommodate the 12V system. The compact design of the MADMAX indicators not only gives the bike a more modern look but also ensures visibility for safety. The stock 6V electrical system is upgraded to a 12V system, requiring a harness upgrade. The bike was old and in poor condition when acquired, with no key, so a Minimoto Ignition Switch is installed.
The traditional Honda DAX has the fuel petcock on the carburetor. With the engine replacement, the carburetor is also replaced, necessitating a new petcock. The SP Takagawa Fuel Cock fits perfectly in the mounting hole used for the old airbox. Since a pod filter is used now, the airbox is no longer needed. The other great feature of this petcock is that it has a main and reserve entry points, eliminating the need to adjust the fuel tank, which has main and reserve outlets. The old gear shifter is replaced with a more modern Takegawa gear shifter, which is more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than the traditional two-arm shifters.
