Leisurely, Yet High-Performance: HONDA CB250R Custom

 5 min read

Webike's Opinion

Here is a "HONDA CB250R" custom by Webike community user "SENKO". The owner says that the bike is lightweight, compact, and stress-free to handle, making it easy to take out whenever the mood strikes. On top of that, he also notes that it's a very convenient machine as it is fuel-efficient and inexpensive to maintain, so it's easy on the wallet. While the owner’s main reason for buying it was simply to enjoy leisurely rides, he’s taken a serious approach to customizing to enhance its performance.

For the exhaust system, he installed a BEAMS CORSA-EVO II Slip-on Silencer along with the SP Tadao POWERBOX PIPE. The exhaust system achieves a weight reduction of about 50% compared to stock and produces a cool, deep bass sound. He also chose the POWERBOX PIPE partly out of curiosity to see how it would transform the bike as a full exhaust system and partly because the stock exhaust pipe’s black coating didn't quite suit his taste. He remarked that the upgrade made the engine feel so much more responsive that it was almost like riding a completely different bike. “It revs effortlessly from mid-range all the way to the redline,” he said. While the bike feels significantly more powerful in the mid-to-high RPM range, he noticed that the low-end torque seemed to have been slightly sacrificed. Still, it’s perfectly fine for taking off and cruising at a relaxed pace, so he feels the POWERBOX was well worth it.

One of the bike’s downsides, however, was its near-total lack of storage. Although he originally didn't want to add anything, he decided to install a rear rack and top case to improve practicality. He chose the ENDURANCE Rack with Pillion Grip, which offers excellent rigidity. He says that it easily accommodates larger top cases like the 42L GIVI Monolock, making it recommendable for commuting or touring. The drawback, he feels, is that it strays a little from his ideal vision of the bike, and the styling feels slightly less cool. However, he’s satisfied with the added storage capacity, which more than makes up for it.
