A Pinnacle Machine With Powerful Chassis: CB1100R Custom
BULL DOCK's CBX1000
If you are trying to custom an older bike, once the foundation for safe riding is in place, performance improvements are a piece of cake.
Today we bring you a Honda CB1100R made by a great custom builder "BULL DOCK". For this model they have done their best to collect OEM parts and had more repro parts for the electrical system than before. It retains the stock appearance of the CB1100R, but with a finish that is as good as any modern machine.
Engine
The inside of the engine has been thoroughly worked on to refresh and improve performance as much as possible. The exterior of the CB1100R was also given a thorough pre-treatment and repainting to make it shine even more brightly than when new. The engine of the CB1100R is mostly hidden by the cowl, but no compromises were made.
Intake & Exhaust
The FCR 37 carburetor is an unbeatble option for improving the acceleration response and increasing the power. Especially for old bike that may not regain performance even after an overhaul.
There are only a few choices of aftermarket exhausts for the CB1100R, but they opted for a titanium exhaust pipe from Asahina Racing combined with the Winn-McCoy silencer made of BULL DOCK.
The oil cooler was enlarged to cope with the increased heat generated by the intake and exhaust system changes and engine tuning. The 13-stage Active round type oil cooler was selected to provide sufficient cooling performance.
Chassis
17-inch wheels front and rear, reminiscent a nostalgic taste from the 80's, the design looks great on a road sports model and will make a statement of being a custom machine.
In order to make the 70's and 80's bikes with 17-inch wheels and install the popular Ohlins upright front forks, the brackets had to be changed. In this vehicle, the McCoy for the Kawasaki air-cooled Z was used as a base for the installation.
The rear shock is also set with Ohlins to match the front, but it is a special order item for this vehicle. The rear inner fender seen in the back is made by McCoy, which also includes a chain cover.
Sunstar rotors and Brembo radial calipers are combined. This new system has much more braking power and control than the CB1100R when it was still in service.
The rear brakes are built with Sunstar Works Expand and Brembo Racing for speed control during sport riding.
The brake master uses Brembo, and the clutch holder was also changed to balance the appearance of the left and of the right Brembo is currently distributed as an external product, but at the time of production, there were no such products available, so a genuine Yamaha product was chosen.
Bodyworks
To balance the 17-inch wheels with high-grip radial tires, the frame was reinforced in six places. The exterior is also diamond coated for durability and beauty.
The step is based on McCoy's Z1000J/R step, and was installed after the mounting area was added when the frame was reinforced. The step is machined from aluminum and has a good balance of appearance with the wheels and suspension.
The seat is also a part that deteriorates with age, and since there are no aftermarket parts for the CB1100R, the inside of the seat was reshaped and the skin was reapplied. Even the seemingly stock-looking parts of the seat have been modified.
The fender eliminator is a standard way to make the tail look cleaner. The manufacturer is unknown but used for this vehicle as well. Blinkers were replaced with external ones that are close to the stock shape.
