Back to the Street: Stunt Spec CBR1000RR Custom
Team CB's CBR1000RR
Supersport is a genre of motorcycles where each motorcycle manufacturer reflects their competitiveness in racing. Even though there are restrictions on the displacement and other factors depending on the racing category, in terms of cornering and acceleration performance, it is positioned at the pinnacle of models offered by each manufacturer. Additionally, Supersport models are often used for extreme bike stunts, relying on their high-revving engines, light weights, and compact silhouettes which create dynamic motion. Moreover, since Supersport models are equipped with a full cowl, there is room to apply graphic decals on it as a canvas to enhance their visual appeal. This CBR1000RR custom is reminiscent of the MotoGP racer RC211V, based on SC57 (2004-2007) with characteristic dual headlights and a tail cowl with a protruding silencer.
Originally, this bike was a demo bike for the extreme motorcycle wear brand, ICON Motorsports. It was brought from the US to Japan and had its blinkers and other safety-related parts replaced to comply with Japanese law, and a license plate was also obtained. The engine is stock, but the coloring is wrapped with the graphic of ICON's Legion. The silencer, rearsets, and brake parts have been replaced, but it can still be used outside of the track. Generally, with Supersport models, the era can be easily identified by appearance, which may be a concern for those who are interested in trends. However, such concerns are not necessary as the unique graphics can help to cover up these issues with this custom.
Handle
The mirrors are downsized and brackets are placed in a top-to-bottom configuration. The front blinkers are small types, which are set near the nose of the dragon graphic.
The front master is a Brembo radial with a foldable lever, but clutch side remains to be stock. GPR steering damper was added.
Bodyworks
The cowls are all painted in black and wrapped with the ICON's Legion Main-Frame graphic.
Intake & Exhaust
The exhaust protruding from the tail cowl has been replaced with an aftermarket part. The rear blinkers are also an American product and are built into the panel added to the tail.
Engine
The water-cooled DOHC 4-valve, inline 4-cylinder 999cc engine and aluminum twin-spar frame are retained, and the frame is painted in black.
Chassis
The rearsets are made by VORTEX in the U.S., which is strong in this genre. The drive chain is EK-Chain ThreeD black and gold.
The front forks are the stock Φ43mm inverted type, and the front brake consists of Brembo CNC P4 30/34 calipers and SUNSTAR discs.
With the black painted swingarm, the rear single shock is upgraded using Race Tech's internal parts as well as the front forks. 3-spoke 3.50-17/6.00-17 wheels are also stock, but painted in fluorescent magenta.
Rear brake consists of Brembo P2 34 caliper and SUNSTAR disc. The brake lines are changed to the ones made of stainless steel mesh.
