Reviving the Legendary CB-F in 21st Century: CB1100 Custom
With Me's CB1100
With Me started "Project F" to fulfill the desire to ride the CB-F which was once very popular again by customizing a modern air-cooled CB1100 as the base. Exterior parts are developed based on the air-cooled + PGM-FI CB1100. The fuel tank is made out of aluminum and the exterior and inner fenders are FRP. The seat was also reshaped to create a complete bike with CB-F style docked to CB1100.
This bike is a recent work by "Project F" based on the CB1100 and the owner requested customization based on the first generation CB900FZ/750FZ which had a amazing Bordeaux color with a blue gradient line that impressed him when he was 15 years old. He wanted to get as much of that cool CB-F as possible, so the customization included changes such as Moriwaki short pipes, wheel changes, aluminum tank, short fender design, and weight reduction. This is truly a reproduction of the CB-F.
Handle
The meters, handlebar, and left and right master cylinders are all stock CB1100 parts, making them adaptable to further changes. The steering stem is also stock CB1100, designed to fit the 18-inch front and rear wheels. The square-shaped blinkers that reproducing the CB-F style are the optional "F-Type blinkers" from Project F, a reissue of the CB-F.
Bodyworks
The aluminum fuel tank is beautifully shaped to resemble the CB750F, and has a capacity of 14 liters (compared to the CB1100's 16 liters). The fuel pump and fuel gauge have also been transplanted, so the gauge works properly. The tank cap is a stock CB-F part and can be opened and closed with the main key. The side covers and seat cowl are made of FRP and can be attached to the frame without modification. The overall bike is finished in the red color known as "Bordeaux" from the CB900/750FZ.
Engine
The CB1100's air-cooled DOHC 4-valve straight-4 engine, 6-speed transmission, PGM-FI, oil cooler, and tubular steel double cradle frame are used, but they are not out of place.
Intake & Exhaust
The rear brake of the CB1100 uses a stock Nissin caliper with a single-piston and a solid disc. The exhaust is a one-piece stainless steel Moriwaki full exhaust.
Chassis
The CB1100 stock Φ41mm front forks, Nissin 4-piston calipers, and other front brake system are used as is.
The inverted type rear shock and steel swingarm are also stock CB1100 parts. For the wheels, 2.75-18/4.00-18 sized aluminum forged six-spoke Galespeed TYPE-N were selected. For the seat, the interior was refreshed and reshaped based on the CB-F stock, and the upholstery was reupholstered. In addition, the inner fender was also changed to FRP.
