POSH stands for "Port Out Starboard Home". About 100 years ago, nobles in Europe were to reserve the seat on the left side of the the ship just to see the beautiful lights of the port at the Indian Ocean and the right room on the way back home.
POSH stands for those slang to give an image of smartness and elegancy of those who get used to traveling.
