About quality and texture: I am happy with the quality of the type 2 high lift camshaft from Kitaco, wonderful machining throughout and great quality bearing fitted. About the feeling of use: I was looking for a camshaft to make the 125cc engine higher revving which it has and I'm really happy with how it performs on the open road but it has lost power in the lower RPMs which is not ideal for around town. Products to buy together: Some type of fuel controller is needed to be purchase along side the type 2 high lift camshaft, the Kitaco I-Map is well suited to this type of performance modification. Difficulty of installation: The process to install takes about half an hour, was an easy job to complete after reading through the Honda service manual directions. Not difficult to do. Cost performance and comparison with other products: Good costing but no longer the cheapest high RPM camshaft available here on Webike since the Endurance hi-power camshaft is now available, but does look to have the better power curve for my main use. About shipping and packaging: Sea frieght is my preferred method of shipping due to the lower cost and it is fantastic that it has returned as an option once again so I can put my money toward parts and not high shipping costs. Webike kept me updated on the status of my order up to when it shipped. The parcel arrived within the expected date range and was well packaged with no chance of the part being damaged. Any concerns, cautions, or advice when purchasing: Webike has many camshaft to choose from and the choice is difficult, much research is required to get as close as possible to your desired performance outcome. * About quality and texture, Smooth rolling bearing with a hard coating over the cam lobes and with the absence of the decompression mehanism that the Honda OEM camshaft features.* About the feeling of use, I was reading peoples thoughts on the differences between the type 1 and 2 camshafts from Kitaco and thought I'd do some comparing for myself. The type 2 is definitety more lively in the higher RPM's which is fun but like I suspected not as well suited to my riding environment as the type 1 canshaft.* Products to buy together, If you are yet to own a set of feeler guages then a short set with an angled end would be a tool to buy to assist with completing the installation process.* Difficulty of installation, With some reading of the instructions and organising the required tooling prior, the camshaft on this engine is very achievable to do yourself. The process was completed in 40 minutes with a little difficultly.* Cost performance and comparison with other products, The Kitaco camshaft for the Grom are very budget friendly and they have the support of the Kitaco I-map for you to adjust the fuelling yourself. There are a few other brands at this price point but they don't have this support so will cost you more to get the Grom running right.* About shipping and packaging, I am happy to wait 6 weeks on average for my parts to arrive in Sydney Australia via Webike's sea freight which comes with tracking and insurance so I know I'm covered in case something was to go wrong but with there outstanding bubble wrapping and boxing there have been no problems.* Any concerns, cautions, or advice when purchasing, Maybe if you play around with different combinations of sprockets you can find the perfect balance between the type 1 and 2 camshafts. Use the product reviews to assist in making a decision on your purchase.View Detail
About quality and texture - Top quality. Japanese bearing used with nicely machined and coating cam lobes.About the feeling of use - For the price the type 2 camshaft performs very well and I have no complaints but do take into consideration for the higher RPM gains you will loss some down low.Products to buy together - Correct tooling to carry out the job is always important and to make this job easy you will be wanting to purchase a tappet adjuster wrench and a universal holder, both available here on Webike from Kitaco.Difficulty of installation - I find the camshaft installations on the Monkey 125 simple and fun to carry out after I did a little reading on the task and made sure I had the correct tooling.Cost performance and comparison with other products - Bang for buck you won't be disappointed with the type 2 cam but if you want the best camshaft for low end performance this is not the one for you, take a look at the much more expensive ST-2M from Yoshimura.About shipping and packaging - I think Webike are doing their best with shipping pricing, so I'm happy. Packages ship within 24 hours and arrive very quickly from Japan.Any concerns, cautions, or advice when purchasing - Since you no longer have the OEM decompression mechanism, starting with the OEM lead acid battery can sometimes be difficult. A higher CCA battery like a lithum battery should be on your list to purchase.View Detail
I installed this cam after originally going for the type 1, whilst type 1 was an improvement in mid range eliminating lag the type 2 really is a stand out in the way it transforms the bike into a revving machine.the lag between 5 and 7000 rpm is midly present with an aftermarket exhaust system but the trade off is superb once you hit 7000. I plan on removing half a kilo weight off the crankshaft counter weight assembly which will eliminate this lag altogether and give me better acceleration.Coupled with a fuel/air controller and good exhaust/air intake system you will notice the difference straight away, great for gentle hill climbs in 4th gear or up steep hills in 3rd over the standard camshaft.Duration is noticebly longer over standard (even type 1) and valve clearances were set at original (0.03 and 0.07) specifications.I can easily hold over 80 km/hr up towards pie in the sky in third with this cam in 3rd with a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket, intake mods, takegawa exhaust and ejk air/fuel controller with standard heavy counterweight on the crankshaft.
