img00-32

“The Machine of the Year (MOTY)”, a reader voting plan that determines the popular number one from the bike that was sold in the year, organized by “Young Machine” magazine, has been piling up the times for 46 years. Let’s look back at MOTY long-time generation and the history of MOTY. There was a row of brilliant motorcycle that lined up that time.”

1970s: Kawasaki Golden Age -Z2 got the top for 6 years-

From the 1st MOTY to the 6-year-long reign on the throne was the Z2 of KAWASAKI, the 750RS and the Z750FOUR that changed the name of the model. The reason for this was that it boasts the strongest DOHC 4 engine for Japanese specifications. After that, the throne was replaced by Honda CB750F, the strongest machine in the country, which was the long-awaited DOHC and the new European style which was in hand at that time.

[MOTY in its early days started with 4 divisions]This magazine was first published in 1973. MOTY started from this time. At that time, it had been selected from 4 categories of “Best Motorcycle”, “Road Sport”, “Off-Road Sport” and “Mini & Leisure” by the vote of readers. The export motorcycle was nominated only for Japanese specifications, not the target.
