2019 New PANIGALE V4R with wing in 221PS/193kg

Last November 4, 2018 (5th in Japan), Ducati held a press conference ahead of the Milan show and released its first 2019 model, such as V4R (PANIGALE V4R).

Make a difference with the strongest engine and aerodynamic package

The PANIGALE V4R is a racing bike in the Super Bike World Championship (WSBK) category that is possible to on public roads and will be the base vehicle for the Ducati Super Bike fight in the 2019 season. This newly designed steel forged crankshaft designed to function as a rigid member of the vehicle body, the stroke is short stroked to 48.4mm (1103cc is 53.5mm) while maintaining the 81mm bore. The four titanium connecting rods are 100 grams lighter and the crankshaft is 1100 grams lighter, compared to the steel that is used in the PANIGALE V4.

The camshaft is equipped with an exclusive profile and drives 16-valves by increasing the lift amount compared to the DESMOSEDICI STRADALE (34mm diameter titanium intake valve, 27.5mm diameter steel exhaust valve). In the R version of the engine, a new and larger intake duct has been developed as a result of the use of a fluid mechanical design exclusive to the cylinder head.

NA strongest 221ps in less than 1000㏄. With an optional exhaust system, the 234ps power of the 231PS is greater than that of the 2019-type H2.

High-efficiency wing than MotoGP machine

In the highlights of the changes in the PANIGALE V4R, it was Wing that brought the biggest change in appearance. This is based on the wing concept used in DESMOSEDICI GP16 (before the shape was regulated), but it is said that it is even more efficient in comparison to those used in the MotoGP.

The monoplane wing has a trapezoidal layout, which gradually becomes narrower from the root to the tip. The performance of the wing is further raised by a wing-let that protects the air flowing through the surface with a strake arranged in the longitudinal direction. The wing in conjunction with the fairing design improves the overall downforce of the machine (+30kg at 270km/h) and suppresses Willie during high-speed driving. In addition, the stability during braking at the turn-in point and the corner are improved.

As a result of increased stability in the wing mounting, it can be expected to shorten the lap time. The intervention of electronic control is kept to a minimum, and it is possible to open the throttle until the start of cornering and delay the breaking.

An air vent like ERA, similar to S1000RR, also features a PANIGALE V4R. This has succeeded in raising the air-through speed of the radiator and oil cooler by 6% and 16% respectively.

The tank is made of the same aluminum as the 16L PANIGALE V4/S. The feature of R is not colored.

The 5-inch TFT meter is common with other series (upper left). The front adopts an exclusive 43mm-diameter pressurized NPX25-30 fork with a tin treatment (upper left, lower right). The rear is TTX36 (upper right), both manual adjustment type. The brakes are made of Brembo Stylema Mono-block caliper (lower right), and the Marchesini aluminum forging wheel (lower) is adopted before and after.
